Kevin Garnett ad...how do they do it?

How do they do they make this pictures look so 3d type??? I love the look of this. Have a look at the commercial of Kevin Garnett here:

His is the best ad I think. Sorry to post the actual ad, but I figured that was the best way to show you all what I mean.

I don't know the real answer but I do have a guess.

To me it looks like they took his pic in a studio then merged it with the background of fans from a different pic. Since the shots of KG were done in a studio with better light than an arena this would help to make him stand out more against the darker background of fans.

Part of the reason I think this is if you lookat the moving shot were KG is dunking it doesn't appear to have the same 3D effect as the still shots.

It is actually quite easy to do. You make a copy of just the person and layer it on a video editing program. You then then expand the image of the person slowly while you zoom and move the two images slighty. It gives you that 3D effect with 2D images. (Remember, you are actually looking at a video of a photograph).
this is actually a fun effect to do with old photographs or of family vacation pictures.
