Yay! I got my new camera! Lot's of great new features, great clarity, great color.

Most of my old gear fits, some doesn't.

Pro:
  • Live View
  • Kit comes with IS lens (although low-end, it's sharp and bright)
  • Large LCD
  • Settings for shot clearly appear in the LCD
  • All the EOS Glass works
  • SDHC Compatible (big cards available)
  • 12.2 Megapixels (lots to work with)
Con:
  • New Battery (old batteries don't fit)
  • Battery grip from other Digital Rebels not compatible (see above)
  • SD Cards, Gotta buy new memory cards.
  • 12.2 Megapixels (big files)
Anybody else have one?

    Congratulations. clap.gif

Now let's see some images. thumb.gif

I am very interested in your thoughts and some samples from the new lens (I presume the Canon EF-S 18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6 IS.)

Well I guess you could feel big files are a con if you have an slow PC.
Most of my XTi files are in the 8-10MB range. My biggest is a 11.3MB B&W file.
I notice the 40D files are bigger than the XTi files but they are both 10MP. 11-16 MB. They load up and convert a lot slower than my XTi files.

I liked the look and feel of the camera compared to my XTi when I tried it at B&H and I planned to take some images home to look at, but I was rudely thwarted when I opened the memory card slot and slide my compact flash card in. Lol. And I lost the SD card to my Treo. Definitely got a good feeling about the camera when I looked at it though.

I just bought one of these. (SXi)

I've only taken a few shots with it, so I don't really have anything new to share.
I've have an XT, XTi, and a 30D.
I loved, (yes I said loved) the screen on the back of the XTi giving me all the info as I made changes on the fly.
I had fewer screw ups using that camera than any other for having a wrong setting. (like iso 1600 in broad daylight)
So really for that reason I got the SXi.
I'm to the point that I feel I can take good pics with whatever camera I'm holding. Sure some are better than others.
But Between the 4 that I own now, it's about ergonomics more than anything else.

I can show a couple of shots from the SXi.

    and one of my girls.
This is at iso 800 with the 18-55is kit lens, wide open at this focal length (41mm)
