I've been trying to see what the hype is about the urban, grunge, retro look. The kids seem to love it. It's growing on me.

I had a great time with these two. It helps to have fun subjects.

Great shots and such an awesome location to shoot! I've been looking for a spot like that for ages... grrr!!

    Ok, photos... ummm... I love'm!

    #1 has great composition
#2 has a fun angle that totally works
#3 has the fun element we so eagerly seek
#4 has a stunning look from her
#5 has an awesome look from the beat up old train car
    #6 has anothe great look
    #7 has a missing leg!

The only bad things are the missing leg and hand in one shot.

What do yo uuse to acheive the grungy look? The one I use makes it end up too gritty, while yours has a more cross-processed look. Please share!

I love them! (and I am 50!) except #2.. . . the WB seems a bit off on it. The rest are great!

These are great. I aspire to break into this level of portraiture.

My $.02 - while I like the composition in #1, her expression is a little weird to me. It doesn't seem quite natural.

Thank you for all the comments!

codiac2600...I was tired of the same locations everybody (including myself) around here uses. I just got off my butt and went driving. The tracks are not too far. However, the old junk yard, (bus and truck) was about 45 minutes away. #1 was a house that had burned down. We drove past it and I said turn around! When I get home, I will give details on the processing.

joshhuntnm...Desaturation is what is throwing the WB off.

    Swartzy... thumb.gif

len20... She has braces. She wanted to smile; however, I'm sure she was trying to hide them. Pretty common.

    dawssvt... I do too.

    Scott_Quier... thank you!

This is to go along with that "in your face" look. I need to work on the merge for the train track picture.

Wow, great compilation there at the end! Really like how you were able to blend several images together with other overlays and things! How about a screenshot of what your layers in Photoshop looked like for that one?

    Great work! clap.gif

I would think an appropriate gradient mask on your "background" layer and another on the train track image would solve the problem nicely. Maybe?

    Nice photos but...

... living in the heartland of the ol' grunge movement back in the day (Portland is actually where Kurt Cobain met Courtney Love) I would hardly call these grunge. Guess I just see way too many tats, piercings, and streaked/dyed hair on a daily basis!

    But they are nice photos!
