Use the histogram - Flies Part I

After posting some over exposed picitures, I decided it's time to learn to use the histogram to help with exposure. Here are some flies I practiced on.

    Lovely series but think all look a little dark- probbably caused by the bright specular highlights. Really like #3 though- great angle and composition. The fly/hoverfly is #4 and #5 looks interesting - not seen anything quite like it :).
    I assume the main light source is bright sunlight ?- which does tend to give high contrast images and more problems with exposure ?
