nope the cold & rain says I'm here. unless I'm IDing it wrong??? I just saw a male ruby throat out by the feeder & I could see the red so I think I'm IDing it correctly.ne_nau.gif
if it is I don't know why it's here & I bet it wishes it was out west where it is warmer.

Oh...& no drugs were envolved, Although there might be a few beers :booze tomorrow as I sit outside trying to catch it again.

That is a very nice shot, but I think that is a ruby throated hummer. The gorget can look black at times. Black Chinned Hummers are smaller and slimmer although it could just be the way the bird is perched. The bill looks like a ruby throated too. While not impossible, a black chinned in WS would be a rarity!

You know that hummer not lost! He's just been circling around all the storms we've been having from the West.

I'll be looking to see what you catch tomorrow.

Oh yes don't let the feeder run dry.

Thanks Stephen...you might be right. I usually only see females so ne_nau.gif
it doesn't make sense to me about it being here otherwise.
but.....it looks just like the black chinned hummer in my Smithsonian Birds of North America book.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Hi Dave. The hummers are back here too. Right where I sit for the RT hawk series a couple hummers built a nest not 3 feet above my head. I saw the first piece of the nest that they placed, thought the hummer was just trying to clean its bill but they just kept coming back and forth for the last two weeks and now they have a nice little nest built. I'll have to take my pocket camera along and try to get a picture.

Excellent capture on your shot for a rainy cold day. Hope you get a lot of sunny summer days for all the nasty storms you've had this winter.
