Hello Everyone, Prior to signing up with Smugmug Pro I already had a website, using Smugmug for viewing photos of course. Can I use the same name on Smugmug as my regular website? and, if so, when someone types in the site name, which one will they be directed to?? Should I change the Smugmug to a different name?? Thanks!!

Hi, My name is Seth and I'm one of the SmugMug Support Heroes. Yes, you can use the same name on your SmugMug site as your regular website. This link from our help pages explains how to set this up. http://www.smugmug.com/help/professional-accounts
Once this is done when a visitor types in the site name they will be directed to your SmugMug site. I hope this information is helpful. If you have additional questions please let us know.

    Website and Smugmug
I've reviewed the link you suggested, but I'm still confused. If I use the same name for both sites, and the Smugmug site comes up instead of the regular site, what happens to the regular site? Basically, the regular website is used to view all services offered, and SM is used to view and purchase prints of weddings, events. etc.

Should I just eliminate the regular website all together, and combine everything on SM? I'm already established with Google, and would like the regular website to stay the same and then direct to SM for viewing and purchasing of prints.

I'm thinking a custom sub-domain name should work for you. You can have your domain point to both sites.
    Example:
My site hosted over at goDaddy: http://www.lmsportspix.com/
    My SmugMug site: http://photos.lmsportspix.com/
Is this what you are looking to do?

Edit: I'm not sure where you have your domain at, here is the goDaddy instructions: http://wiki.smugmug.com/display/SmugMug/GoDaddy+CNAME+Setup Check out step #5

Thanks, how about keeping my website and then direct people to SM for viewing and purchasing only. My website is not registered with GoDaddy, what would be the nest steps?

set up a cname for your subdomain

photos.yourdomain.com to www.smugmug.com. once that's done, you then put photos.yourdomain.com in your domain field in your SmugMug control panel.

if you need more help here, holler to our heroes we'll e happy to give it to you, okay?
