I thought I would put the latin name in a the thread title to see if you can work out before opening the show button what this is.

Obviously, if you are into natural history in a big way, you may know this name anyway. I knew it from school way back when.

I suppose the question is more aimed at those who don't now , or may have forgotten, but it is just a bit of fun...

:barb

Taken this evening as it was raining in the north west (nothing new there then) and quite simple to do.

I used the onboard flash to make sure there was no movement captured cos you know that when it rains, there is usually a breeze along with it.

Oh, and I used ISO 800 to so there is a bit of noise in the images but I have tried to minimise it a little.

So, have you worked it out yet?

Here is the answer:

Very, very cool. My Latin totally failed me BTW. More into physics, less into bio.

Good shots Paul. I sure hate those guys and although I have some Hosta's over a foot high I haven't come across one yet but I certainly will in due course.
    Regards

    Thanks Brian.

I don't need hostas for the creature feature here.. There are enough of them as it is!
