The PW transmitter chip for the Sekonic flash meter 358 is only about 1 cm square, and maybe 0.25mm thick - so they should be easy to squirrel away somewhere inside a 1 Series camera - but Canon did not invent them, and I think, sometimes, that is a problem for a large company to admit.
Several Nikon DSLRs have a wireless remote shutter release also - how cool is that! Canon still has only a hard wired remote, which might shake the camera if jerked upon. Not a problem with a wireless remote release.
That D3 is getting more appealing all the time. It is so much more inexpensive than a 1DsMklll also!!
I love this! I already have a piece of equipment that uses similar approach (maybe even identical hardware by the look of it) - Profoto Compact-R series lights. Not having - let's say it - a bulky PW transmitter holding your hotshoe hostage would be awesome.
I hope Canon will eventually wake up and smell the coffee . Otherwise, as Jim said, D-series may become just too much of a gear candy...
Antonio, thanks for the link!
Darn, they should really offer that ability - it would be appreciated, and, as I said, the chip is smaller than the size of a stamp. I know this is true because I added the chip after the fact to my Sekonic L-358.

Mainly if they get many people involved... and may have ugly consequences like this one I was trapped in.
Maybe the link to the Pocket Wizard site should be erased by themselves because it looks real and it is not
