Mississippi kites perching this morning.
The Mississippi Kites are back in my area for the summer and I couldn't be happier to see these insect eaters again this year. This is the third year that I have watched them return. I am sure they have been doing it for a much longer time. :rofl
This morning I saw these two sub-adults perching nicely.
Hopefully many more to come this summer.

Ever since I got started in birding about in late 2006 I have seen them every summer. This year, having studied birds in more detail, I was on the look-out. My first sighting this year was the last week of April and they usually leave by late August or early September so I would say they are in my area, North Central Texas, 35 miles south of Dallas, from late April to the beginning of September more or less.
Thanks for the comments.

Thansk Dave. They are fun to watch.

On the second one it might be nice to clone out some of the twigs.
Hi Stephen, Cool shots, I've never seen one either. Always nice to see a new bird I haven't seen before !! Hope you get a bunch of shots this summer.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thank you so much. I plan on trying to get a bunch this summer for sure.

Thanks Ric. I noticed that unslightly clump of cedar in the way. I will probably eventually clone those out, but my skills are nothing like yours.

Thanks Jim.
Here is another view of the same kite but with a different head-turn. The turn allowed for just enough light to hit the eye to show off that red!

Hogwash!
That image would be a good one to try...kind of an easy one.
Large feathered clone brush will do it...just watch the shading and overlap short strokes.

I'll give it a shot when I have some Rik.
