Went to a meadow in a lovely estate (Ashton Court) a few miles from where I live. The grass is still short but life is thriving.

Can anyone put a name to these next two bugs?

Wonderful series. Looks like the snail has had an accident with it's shell :)
Esp like #3 and the fly shots are great.
first fly is a dungfly Scatphaga stercoria
last shot is a dance fly Empididae probably Empis species.

Thanks everyone for your comments. And thanks Brian for the ID's.

I also thought the #3 snail was the best, but I had to lead in to it with the others. :D

    Thanks again,

Great Bokeh on the fly shots. I'm not surprised that Lord V knew what they were. I sure had no idea.

Excellent shots! Snail #3 is my Favorite. And I like the expression on Fly #2, but the Blue thing he's sitting on is very distracting.

    Thanks Matt.

The blue thing is my cycle jacket and was the only place he would let me take his picture. I got a couple with him in natural surrounds but they were not too good :D

The clarity and detail is amazing. I like the 1st bug most. Good job!
