Need Blogging Help

Hi,

I need to set up a simple blog-format web site so I can keep people updated on what I'm up to and post links into my SmugMug galleries. I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations among the dozens of blog and CMS packages that exist out there.

My current hosting provider offers PHP and Perl/CGI for free, MySQL support costs extra. I just need something simple that's easy to set up and requires minimal maintenance.

Just wondering if anyone out there has run into this before and what solutions they came up with.

And if you have your own blog, feel free to post links.

I have my blog at www.blogger.com. It's a free service (owned by Google). I have changed the header of my blog to match my smugmug site. And I post photos on my blog with links back to my galleries.

richW has posted notes on how to embed your external blog within a smugmug gallery in this thread - http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=70297&highlight=blog. I prefer to keep my standalone because I don't like the scrolling effect that you get when you stuff it into a gallery. Both methods work though.
