I agree. #5 is a very nice panning shot. How did you pull off #2 with just the number in focus?

Shots like #2 are a lot of hit and miss for me. These are very slow shutter speeds. I cannot get the shutter down where I want it without a filter on the lens to cut some of the light coming in. I should be using a ND filter, but I don't have any, so I just use a polarizing filter (it's good for several stops lower with the shutter speed). I use one focus point and I do the best I can to pan with and keep that point on whatever I want in focus.
Like I said...I end up tossing more than I keep.
I usually like having the helmet as the focus point (like the shot below), but this was a really low shutter (1/15), so I was happy with it.
I can imagine that you have to toss a few in order to get that to turn out. Panning is so much harder than I thought it would be when I first started shooting motorcycles - it's a great feeling when they turn out though.
