Yorkshire Dales Shadows and Highlights

Here is another of the series of photos from the Yorkshire Dales that I have been PP. I liked the shadows and shafts of light hitting the landscape and the building. It was always rather dramatic for shooting in the winter as the clouds would rush by so quickly creating all kinds of shadows/light upon the landscape.

In painterly terms, that's called Chiaroscuro. Light and Dark (also the name of a record label).

    Nice image!

    Don,

    P.S.

My other favorite such word is Sfumatti (Spelling ??). The purple haze of distance. Helpful in representing depth of field in painted landscapes.

Yorkshire is my favorite place in the whole world! I'll try to post some of my pics some time. I don't think I've been anywhere that had so many photo opportunities!

    Thanks for sharing,
