sub-category default sort order

I like to keep my sub-categories sorted a certain way. For some, I like the most recent new galleries at the top. And in others, I want the galleries sorted alphabetically. I know how to sort them this way using the arrange button, but every time I add new galleries, they go to the bottom of the stack, and I need to manually re-sort. Is there some way to set specific sub-cats such that my preferred order is the default?
Thanks!
Thanks!

(I got tired of digging through posts. Back in 2005 somebody wrote a Python script to automatically sort his galleries the way he wanted. I've thought about this as well, but it would be yet another hack I shouldn't have to do.)
I like most recent at the top as well. It makes a ton of sense.

We're not talking about the home page. Sure, if we wanted every gallery we ever created to be on the home page sorted in reverse-chronological order like JT (http://jt.smugmug.com/) then yes, you're right, it works.
The subject of this thread is "sub-category default sort order". So we're using categories. Galleries created in subcategories, or categories, are *not* sorted in reverse chronological order.
When I use the web UI to create a new gallery in category X, it gets placed at the bottom of the category page. Same with subcategories.
But yeah, the point is, it'd be nice if you could set automatic sorting options for category and subcategory pages.
