We have a lot of these little guys running about. I hope to get a much
better shot pretty soon. This one was taken with P&S A610.

Ah now I know what a jumping spider looks like. It is totally different to mine as you would agree. It has an orange spot on its back. Great shot.clap.gif

He's a stumpy looking little fella, interesting that it has the orange spot on it's back.

Must be very tiny, that is a pen end in the shot isn't it ?

    Good one DaddyO thumb.gif .... Skippy :D

Nice you to say Bob. Thanks. With such stellar shots to HOLY MACRO
I am reluctant to post here. :D

Put up the shot so you could see one without looking to deep.
Spot colors with ours come in Red, white, as well as this.
So I am glad you noticed it.

I have captured these and kept them in a jar. Fed them flys and such.
Also introduced other jumping spiders one at a time to the jar. One hell
of a stratigic battle ensues. It isn't over in a flash unless one is smaller than
the other. If they are the same size it can go on for awhile. Generally they
end up fatally wounding each other.

Lovely capture- is that a retracted biro next to it ? - gives a good idea of scale.

Thank you Skippy & Brian. :D

Your right Skippy he is a stumpy looking little dude. Brian, it is a retracted biro
and like you say gives a good sense of scale. Was showing my daughter how
well the Canon A610 was able to capture a macro picture and this quick
cropped photo came out of that demo.

These spiders don't get very big. They are great pouncing hunters. Can be
    handled easily.

Theres a great video on Youtube that is entitled.

"Hillarious jumping spider mating behaviour" Really cool sounds in it.
