American Bittern and spider webs
Here's one I finally got around to processing from Florida. I was searching for the elusive American Bittern the entire week I was there and although I found quite a few they were always abscured by reeds, backlit or in poor light. On day 4 I finally got a break and found this guy at the edge of the water pre-dawn. I moved in slowly with the 135L f/2 since I needed to keep my shutter speed up in the re-dawn darkness. He took off once and I got a decent flight shot but I like this one better after he landed. Let me know what you think, I worked pretty hard to get this.

I love this image (I must if I'm taking some time in Sedona, AZ to comment on it). Its a wonderful capture with fine detail and I can't wait to see it printed and displayed.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks Chris. There is no sneaking up on this bird. They see you way before you've ever seen them. I was lucky because since it was pre-dawn and very dark out and I don't think it could see me very well. I think that's the only reason it let me get as close as I did.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
