""Mr. Woods,

I am the Managing Editor of a medical publication, xxxxxxxxxxxx, with a circulation of 160,000 physicians. I found your image of Mesa Verde on xxxxxxxx on the web site) and we would like to use it in our June issue, one time only use with no web rights, print only. We would run it inside the book as a 2 page spread, roughly 17 inches wide by 12 inches long. Can you accommodate our size with a high resolution file?

Wanted to speak with you on size and price for this usage.

Looking forward to speaking with you,"""

    Congrats!! clap.gif

I agree with Angelo and the post by Shay. There is no set price- that is up to you to decide.

one thing to remember is you don't want to be too low but you don't want to be too high either. deal.gif Anything you can actually get from this is more than you have now!

Just make sure you get a couple free copies too.

    Best of luck.

Remember the type of consumer this magazine attracts.
Don't be scared to bid on the high end on this.

Using fotoQuote (through a Photoshelter link) I came up with a price of $USD1006 for a double page spread in a Trade Magazine type publication with a circulation of between 100,000 and 250,000.

FotoQuote is supposed to be pretty reliable, but I have no experience with the US market, so can't guarantee its accuracy. At least it should give you a starting point to start thinking about ... and congratulations on the selection of a great photo too clap.gif

    Cheers,
    Kenny

I did a Google and found out about the same amount. I think I will ask about $1000.00 and a few copies.

    " Mr. Woods,

Hi. As anticipated, we would like to purchase the aforementioned image at our negotiated rate of $550 with no additional change for the download from Smugmug. Please feel free to call me regarding the particulars. Again, this would run as a one time only use on our June print issue, no web rights.

Once we complete the high-res download, I’ll need you to send me an invoice I will them forward it to our accounting department and we will cut a check within 30 days of receipt. "

you're under no obligation to supply the image without payment in advance but if you choose to go that route ask for a fully executed purchase order, or letter of intent on company stationery, which you can invoice against.
