    Looks like you were shooting in harsh mid-day light. It's very tough to get all the scene's dynamic range into a digital shot under this type of lighting. Hence it makes for tough exposures. Your 3rd and 4th shot illustrate this point. The last one is on the edge expose-wise, but I would have over exposed it more by adding a bit of positive EV compensation (maybe +1/3 - +2/3) to bring out that kewl cat's eyes.
