Baseball Still Life

I haven't had the chance to shoot any baseball action this summer but I still wanted to do something with it. I set this up in my backyard (should have gone to a baseball field though) and tried out some off camera lighting. This is what I came up with after a lot of time trying different lenses, angles, gloves, balls, but I really like it!

I really like the shot and the size of your backyard for that matter, there seems to be something distracting on the left side center, I like the way the grass is lit but the flash is a bit distracting

I really like this shot too. I agree with the distracting flare or whatever it is in the left center. There is also quite a bit of purple fringin in the top left - maybe it would work better if you could clone that tree out and replace with more sky ne_nau.gif

Great comp and idea for sure, glove/ball/grass look great to me. thumb.gif

I agree with the comments above --less harsh light would really make this shot and a ? did you use a fish eye lens ?

Hey, thanks for the comments. I think the harsh light on the left was the edge of the flash. I've cropped that out and cloned out the tree in the top left of the frame. This is what I've come up with.

and Jwear, yes this was shot with a fisheye. It was the Nikon 10.5 fisheye (fun lens!).

Yes it's very nice! I've noticed some other still life sports shots here and never even thought of them before, think I'll have to give it a go :D
