Just got back from the Galapagos Islands -- what an experience!!! Here's our first pic from the trip to the forum: a Galápagos Hawk (Buteo galapagoensis), Gardner Bay, Española.

We were very lucky to be standing at the right place at the right time! Enjoy.

That is just a beautiful photo of a gorgeous raptor. I can't say I've ever seen images of a Galapagos Hawk before. You should write up a post in the Journeys Forum if you get a chance. I don't think we've had a Galapagos thread there yet. A friend of mine took a trip there a couple years ago and she loved it there. Like many others I hope to make it there eventually.

I love the markings on this beautiful species. Hope to see more of your work so I'll be inspired to go there myself.

One more pic of this bird. Apparently, this one's a juvenile. Head's a little fuzzy, but I tried to unsharp mask it a little. Too bad I don't really know how to use it. ne_nau.gif Thanks to everyone for the compliments.

Wow! Love the wing extension and the clear blue sky behind it! What a wonderful experience that had to have been.

A hawk by any name is a pretty cool critter to view. I would imagine (from what I have seen on TV) it must have been quite an experience.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
