Picasa Uploader problems.

If I try to upload a large number of images using picasa (over 100), after lots of waiting and everything looking like it's working, the confirmation page says 0 images uploaded. The error log has no errors either!

It takes a long time to upload the images just to find out that it failed. At least figure out what the limit is and put a warning to the user.

Thanks,
John

I get exactly the same behavior, anyone know what is going on and how to fix this? I want to use Picasa to bulk upload a bunch of photos. Thanks!

The problem is the way Picasa handles uploading images. It bundles all the images up in a single POST...which means if your connection fails at any point during that upload basically none of the images are uploaded.

While putting in limits seems like a good thing to do, it doesn't mean that you won't experience the problem before you reach that limit...and other users are limited where they may have never had an issue at all.

I have some ideas for a slightly different implementation which I will look into after the project I am currently working on.

For the time being if you are having issues, I suggest that you attempt to self regulate the number of images you are uploading in a single batch.

    Cheers,

All 0 of your photos were uploaded
    Success!
All 0 of your photos were uploaded.

This is annoying... I've spend 2 days trying to upload 400 pics and each time I get success followed by the Success! note above...

It would be nice if the picasa uploader uploaded one at a time and picked up where it left off...

It would also be nice if the upload process discarded duplicated files..

Guh, the > 100 bug bit me today. So annoying! Any progress on a fix?

On the positive side, with Picasa 3, it looks like Videos can now be uploaded to SmugMug. Woohooooo!

I switched to lightroom and I use the lightroom uploader. It's so much better that lightroom is worth buying.

Only thing I hate about the lightroom uploader is the developer makes it expire every 2-3 weeks. Talk about being on a deadline and dealing with upgrading plug ins and his unreliable web site... arghh
