New 40D: You Guys Are Great
I don't post much here, but have been on for a couple years. (old advrider.com member).
I just wanted to say that I got my Canon 40D with the kit zoom about 4 months ago, and a Canon flash. I love it! LOVE IT!
You guys were a huge help. I cannot even begin to tell you. I lurked, I read, I lurked I read, I went to dpreview.com for reviews. Eventually I came to a decision on a camera, and where to buy. It all was made SO MUCH easier because of the info here.
I am taking some goregeous images with it....and it just makes my jaw drop.
Am now looking to start slowly adding L lenses. Just bought a book on photo lighting. *rolls eyes* here we go......
I bow to you......thanks everyone!

Yes, we are!
Congratulations on the new camera and I'm glad you got some help here. Please do keep the Digital Grin in mind and feel free to post your views and your images. It helps others just as it helped you.

Photograph the money as it leaves your pockets to preserve the memory and use a fast shutter speed to stop the motion cuz it moves fast!

Mine also came today. Spent the instant rebate dollars saved for another L bracket and a 2nd tripod clamp (so I really didn't "save" the $200).

It took me a day or so to get comfortable with it, and I still haven't completely read (and digested) the manual, but by the end of the weekend, I was quite pleased:

I don't think I've shot 2,000 shots with it yet. I still plug my XTi and film.
That said, it's an excellent camera and made me happy as well for that same airshow.
I want a couple of your night time shot prints and #7 taking off!
I can't wait to put this on my wall with my shot from the 2006 show.
