I came upon this nest during the winter and in March a nesting pair showed up. I have since been able to get alittle closer to the nest while still keeping a safe undisturbing distance from them. All the while taking these I was hoping for a bigger lens and less wind :D Hope you enjoy them.

The first 3 photos were taken after chasing away 2 Hawks from the area. It was amazing to watch this big bird fly so high and do what was needed to protect the nest. The last photo is what was being protected. I do have a photo of both babies on my site.

Yea !!! Great shots Mary Kim (on your web site too). That isn't a nest, that's a Penthouse.
From your web site photos it doesn't look to easy to sneak up on that nest so it looks like a long lens might be in your future..rolleyes1.gif

I bet it was fun shooting the eagles, aren't they magnificent birds to observe.

rolleyes1.gif So true Chris....I need a longer lens and hopefully in the very near future.

They are truly a magnificent bird to watch. The patience they have is unbelievable.

Thanks for taking a look at the others on the site. If you have any ideas for me I'm open to learn.

Great behavioral images with it calling as it perched and the last is extremely as you can see the adult with the chick in the nest. Really nice series.

Thank you...it was calling out for quite awhile. I felt sorry for it. Since I'm not out there all day -- it makes me wonder how often they have to protect the nest like that.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Hello WildWally :D

They are so much fun to watch. I was out there again tonight. I'm learning their schedule which helps in photographing them.
