What picture is better?

Here is a picture I messed around with in lightroom 2 (which is a wonderful program, just have to buy it now!).... so what picture looks better? I know the original isn't great, but I wanted to try to save it.....

    The shadows on her face in the second version are a touch lighter....but....the highlights on her face and arm...and clothing is blown in both shots. If you shot RAW you may be able to recover the highlights...maybe.

    unfortunately I have tried and failed at getting the picture to recover in photoshop elements and lightroom....:cry
