The sharpness of this lens never fails to amaze me...

A little green beetle I came across in the woods - wasn't able to get to 1:1 range (he spooked before I could get off a second shot)
a 100% crop of the same image: (not the reflection on the eyes and "pores where the iridescent portion of the shell is missing"

I had a look in my bug book and as Brian said its a Tiger Beetle.
I thought the white marks on its body was just debrie, but not so.
The markings on your beetle match the one in the Bug Book
