Statement of Intent

It’s common trait in neglecting to take time to smell the flowers and appreciating God’s divine nature when strolling in the parks, whilst constantly immersing in one’s own activities like jogging and Tai Chi.

As I took my usual walk, the surrounding shimmering plants caught my attention and the once lackluster leaves were made radiant by the fleeting lights, transforming it into some kind of artistic pattern. Thereon, I developed a penchant on leaves portraiture and I began to explore them in details, particularly on a brightly lit day.

The pictures of the leaves were taken around the parks of Singapore in its natural form and are displayed in two distinct styles: The top row of leaves were still in its young and flourishing stage, and the bottom row had them in various stages of decay, either aged, being attacked by insects or succumbed to diseases.

My purpose is to enhance the beauty of the leaves by illustrating them in an array of patterns accentuating its lines, shapes and curves. With the juxtaposing of shadowsand their disparity colours, it renders an aura of vibrancy and splendour even for leaves in its withering stage. The artful combinations of these forms evoke a myriad of abstract interpretations that expressed my belief in the divinity of art and nature.

David these shots are beautiful.
You picked a great Theme, the beauty of Nature as seen through your eyes..... I like how you look at things.
We get caught up in our fast way of life and we so often forget to stop and smell the flowers so to speak.
So often the simple things in life give the greatest pleasure.
Congratulations, very very Beautiful Work ... Skippy

Thanks for congrats.
The leaves were taken almost over a year period. The difficult part is conjuring up a panel to cater all 20 pictures to jell together without any jarring of individual image in terms of colouration and composition. Exposure, lighting etc got to be spot on.
Cheers.
