Okay, gotta brag a bit. My 14 year old son was invited to the National Training Center (for soccer) scouting session this weekend!!!!!
Here he is in action this past winter:

This is very cool - a big accomplishment for him, and a huge honor.

    Thanks Adrian and Nikolai

He did alright - he was very nervous. The format was 3 games over the weekend. A total of 27 boys ranging in ages from 13 to 18 years old, from Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
They start up again in September, and if he is chosen he will need to attend about 3 additional sessions a week (right now he trains an average of 12 hours per week, so this would get him close to 20 hours!). He was told that he is one of five 1990 born goal keepers in the program across the nation. He was told being 6' 3" tall doesn't hurt!
He also faced some really difficult shots from much older boys, and stoned his primary opponent from regular season play about a dozen times over the weekend - he is no longer threatened by this kid!
So, all in all, a very good experience for him.
