Gator shots from Hell Hole road.

We like to spend Memorial Day weekend looking for wildlife in the Hell Hole Swamp Wilderness area of South Carolina's Francis Marion National forest.

First is a shot taken by a friend, of me getting a shot of the gator in a drainage pipe under Hell Hole road.

Here are a few of the shots I got. The front of my lens is about 12 inches from the gators nose.

    That was pretty spooky and brave on positioning yourself like that to shoot a gator! Really nice shots of it!

    The gator was in it's "If I don't move, they can't see me defensive mode" so he stayed still for quite some time. He looks big in the pictures, but he's really just about 4 1/2 feet long.

    Thanks everone for the kind comments. It's always interesting to see what we can find in the swamp.
