I need some help - I don't know how much to charge for a pro photo.

I went to an airshow a coupla weeks ago and got some really good shots of a semi with 3 jet engines in the back. Someone mentioned I should sell them to the owner of the truck, which I never even thought of... so I called the company and they are interested in seeing the pics.

What they heck would I charge for something like this? Never been in this type of situation before, so any type help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some of the photos:

No pre/post processing on any of them and there are many others. What else should I know, besides watermarking them?

Thanks for any and all help!

I think first of all we should collectively invoice him for his contribution to climate change.

For me i think the best thing to do would be to ask him if he would like them first...that isnt something you see everyday & i would expect (maybe) he has had a lot of pro photographic sessions.

Some of your photos could do with some processing as well. The truck just looks too dark & i think the brightness could be selectively lifted quite ok with maybe some dodging & burning.

For the owner's personal use, say, for a print - that's one thing - but if they want to put it on the company brochure, website, etc, that's a whole 'nother thing. Play it close to the vest, find out what they want or are interested in.

I'm talking with his advertising company right now - and yes, they have had pro photo sessions for advertising purposes. Thanks for the info on the different types of uses they might want them for and different pricing.

I appreciate the tips on post processing. Would it be better to show samples to them with or without that?

Another thing I'm wondering about are 'rights' to the photos. How does that work, exactly, and how would pricing come into affect with that?

I'd like to help you by teaching about our terrific "search" feature.

Up at the top of the forum you'll see a button marked Search. Going there you can enter terms such as "pricing" and "copyright" and you'll find there are dozens of threads alreardy existing that address both your questions.

(hint: look at the Photog's Resources thread)
