Raw

Ok I always shoot in RAW since it yields the best results for the final product but I'm confused - after I finish processing and altering my photos in iphoto, I drag them to my desk top and all of a sudden they're JPEG's again....so can I print those and expect the same results?

Basically what I'm asking is how can I, after altering my photos, make sure that they're still RAW? I hope this isn't too confusing

I am confused....you say your shooting RAW, but then you say when you drag to the desktop they are jpegs AGAIN.....if you're starting out with raw and you have not saved them as a jpg then they should still be raw......unless iphoto automacally changes them to a jpg then you have no control over what final resolution of jpg you are getting......Photoshop gives a value of 1 to 12 (very low to really good)............but to gt them saved you have to go to file> save as> decide the final file size (1-12) > save to file on desk top......but have no idea how iphoto works.

All the images on iphoto are NEF files until I drag them to my desk top. I think iphoto must change them to jpeg's. Now I need to figure out how to make it stop doing that.
