Oly SP-570 UZ vs. Pany Lumix DMC-FZ 18

We're vacationing in Hawaii next week and I'd like to bring along something a little better than a p&s. I had an Oly E-1 kit but sold it recently as I got tired of lugging it around. A superzoom seems like it would be a fun travel camera. Any opinions on either of the above or is there an additional choice I should consider? Thanks for the input.

Cheers,

Erik

I've not used either one but reading dpreview, the Panasonic tends to get better reviews.
Here is their review of the Panansonic.
    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/panasonicfz18/

They compare it against the older Olympus 560 model.
Haven't heard any reviews of the Olympus 570 though.

I've noticed that as well. It's also about $100 cheaper.

I tried the Panasonic Fz18 and recommended my brother and couple of friends to buy. They are happy with the camera. It is great for marco as well.

It is good value at this time as the FZ20 just launch. The FZ18 price should drop further.

How about a Canon G 9 shoots raw and is relatively lightweight...
