Loons, Grebes and other birds

Last Saturday Mike Lentz and I went out looking for the MN state bird. We came up with a few loons, grebes and a couple misc. birds.

I have been trying my whole adult life to see a Loon with chicks on its back, let alone get a picture of one.

Are these from shore or a boat?

These were taken from a boat using my 100-400 and my 500 4.0.
