Damselfly on an Iris leaf:

Down by the canal, these are damselfly photographs (not to be mistaken for dragonflies -for those who don't know, damsels fold their wings) that had for most of the time landed on the Iris plants on the edge of the canal water.

Then a couple of close-ups:








Couldn't seem to get the timing right for perfect focus - there was a decent bit of breeze along the canal which was often moving the plantlife.

great 1st shot,nice and sharp good comp.
as you noted focus slightly out on others, you cant do anything about the wind.

Agree with above -#1 is a wonderful shot. If it's windy it's worthwhile trying to hold the leaf the bug is on- often it doesn't scare them. I did this yesterday with a damselfly and it promptly walked up my finger
