WOW, these are awesome pix. I have been wanting to take some pix like this at our local events.
Can you fill me in on some details please?
ISO, shutter etc. Did you use a flash or are they even alowed near the ring.

    Thanks for posting.

kelsow, I use a Nikon D200 body and my typical lens for boxing / mma is the 28-70mm AFS f/2.8. Most of the Canon guys use ht 24-70mm AF as well. The 50mm f/1.4 is always in the bag, just in case ...

I go auto-ISO (may stop however), shoot wide open (f/2.8), center weighted spot (or matrix), shutter 1/500 when possible (1/400 else) and capture RAW.

Lighting is always tricky for these things and unless you have a fast lens, you're going to be frustrated. I wish Nikon had a f/1.4 variable zoom in the 28-70mm range, it would be perfect.

Most televised events have good lighting, somewhere in the 3000K range which makes for decent shutter speeds.

You have nice timing with these.

They are a little noisey and you could really tighten up the crop.

    All and all... nice job.

I did very little cropping but will improve with time.

    Thanks for the comment.

Once again, great photos. I always enjoy your postings both on dgrin and mmafighting.

Like you, I also have dual interests in both photography and mma. Out of curiosity, how did you first get involved in shooting boxing/mma events? Its something that I could see myself doing sometime in the future and would love some insight. Thanks in advance for you help.
