BUG ID please?

I have no idea what sort of buggy thing this is. I didn't fancy getting too close, but I did for the creative angle image (shivers....).

I doubt it can bite or anything but still, it's (to me) an unknown buggy creature, and they are best left undisturbed...

Wonderful shots paul- #2 is simply excellent (even with the slightly soft eyes).
Guessing here that this is a stream/river fly- perhaps a stonefly.
[EDIT] correction - think it's an alderfly - related to the lacewings/antlions etc.
