Monitor Calibration

Hi,
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p> </o:p>
I read all the help files and bought a calibration print. The hues, colors, saturation and white balance all look exactly the same. The only difference is the image looks a little brighter on my screen. So I think I’m real close. I’m using a MacBook Pro with OS X Leopard and Vista dual boot.
<o:p> </o:p>
Under Windows Vista, I tried installing the ICC profile as instructed. It seemed to work. Do you know if it’s the same as on Windows XP and I have the profile installed? Can my monitor be set with that profile so what I see is what I will get?
<o:p> </o:p>
I’m also using Photoshop Elements 6.0. I could not find how to install the profile as described for Photoshop. Do you know how I can do this or is this a feature lacking in Elements?
<o:p> </o:p>
Thanks for your help.

You're using a colorimeter to calibrate and profile right? What luminance are you calibrating too? Lower or raise if screen to print matching is off.

I suspect he is doing what is suggested by Smugmug:

Not a good idea!

Yes, I bought the calibration print to compare that to what my screen shows. As stated above, I'm real close. Color and white balance all match by eye. My screen looks about 1/2 stop brighter is all.
I don't know what a colorometer is.
Does anyone know if I can load the ICC profile into PhotoShop Elements? The instructions here show how to do that with PhotoShop...

Thanks.
Elements does not support soft proofing, so you can't load it into Elements.
