Came across this old waterwheel on a farm not far from here. I think it's used to lift water from the pond and into an irrigation system. Need to go back and investigate further now that winter's finally over.

It is a good shot and might do well as local postcard. However, it doesnt move me, which is my (humble) criteria for shots.

    Cheers.

Numbers 2 & 3 are my favorite; they give the best of both worlds for black and white and color. thumb.gif

    I like #1.

It is probably a grist mill and the water from the headrace provides the water to turn the wheel to drive the mill stones. It is an unusual design, but will work fine if the originating water source (such as a spring or creek) is higher than the headrace.

I don't know if you can but It would be great to have some on top of the old wheel shots. Or some angles? Different standpoints from the cottage?
