A chubby Bee and a grisly killing!

Took a walk in the garden early this morning. Lots of critters I never stopped long enough to notice before. While not very sharp, they're the best I could do with a 18-135 mm lens. Gotta get me a proper macro lens soon!

We always called these bees bumble bees but after a little online search I don't think they are. Maybe someone can ID it for me.



While examining the plants for other insects I came upon this grisly scene! Must have been a brutal attack.

Think #1 is a carpenter bee but not certain.
