Just got a D3 last month and I am looking to get some new glass to fill in the ranges I am missing. Looking for advice on what to get.

This is the glass I have already:
Nikon 50 f1.8
Nikon 70-200 f2.8 VR
Nikon 85 f1.4
Nikon 300 f2.8 VR
TC-1.4 Converter
TC 2.0 Converter

I have been looking at the Nikon
AF-S NIKKOR 24-70 f/2.8G ED
and the Nikon
AF-S Zoom- NIKKOR 28-70mm f/2.8D IF-ED
and the Nikon
AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED

Looking only for Quality glass.
What is your opinion on these?

Looking to get into more Portraits and Parties or Weddings in the future.

Thanks in advance

Are you looking for a zoom or a prime? What kind of photography are you doing?

I'd give a serious look at the new pro zooms that came out along with the D3. The Nikkor 24-70mm, f2.8 is an awesome lens. I have the previous version which rarely leaves my camera.

    Looking for a zoom first.
Most of my work has been in the action sports area up until now. I am looking to do some portrait and party/wedding work soon.

I just ordered the Nikkor 24-70mm, f2.8 at lunch. Yea I know I could not wait!!! Getting it overnight to me so I hope to have it on Wednesday.wings.gif

I will probably get the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED or the Nikon 600 f4.0 VR next. Anybody have some cash they want to give away.:D

I recently got the 14-24 2.8 and its awesome. The only drawback is it not accpeting filters.

If you are going to be doing more landscapes type of captures I would go with the 14-24. If you want to shoot wildlife the 600mm or the 500mm lenses would be good choices. The 600mm gives you more reach but the 500 is a lot easier to tote and gives you more flexibility.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Harry,
I would like to do both so it looks like I will need to get both lens.

    Got the 24-70 today.
Here is a test shot wide open.
