These were all taken at the Ridgefield NWR in Vancouver, WA (about 15 miles north of Portland, OR) over two trips in the past month. A great spot for birds!

#2 Soft landing

#4 I was in my car and this heron was only a few feet away, pretty cool!
#5 And then it took off, and I was lucky to get a shot with the entire bird in the frame (this was at 140mm, 100mm with a 1.4x, the heron was only 2-3 feet away)
#6 Two cat tails are better than one!

#8 Can anyone ID this guy?
#9 I love RWBB's, they have no fear!

Thanks Mike! That RWBB was dive-bombing the GBH for about two straight minutes, but the heron didn't budge.

Thanks Dave! Ridgefield is the first place where I've photographed a yellow-headed blackbird, they're cool birds, they have a very unique song. There were several males, and I think a few nests as well (too far back for me to see).
Here's another shot of the same bird after (or before) doing an owl impersonation:

Thanks Bob, and it's definitely play! (I wouldn't get up at 3AM to drive 3 hours to work!)

I did not know a YHBB even existed...so, thanks!
Thanks Stephen, for the comments and the ID, if the bird is brownish and smaller than 6", I'm totally lost

Most of those are called LBJs, Little Brown Jobbers. However, the savannah sparrow is a frequent visitor to my yard in the winter months and much of the spring so I was fortunate enough to recognize it.
