Sort direction decending and no autosort

I have set the sort direction to descending and auto sort to no. If I upload a new picture it goes to the top like I want. If I use the arrange mode checkbox, or arrange files, and move the second file to first place, when I hit refresh these files will go to the bottom of the list and using "arrange files" to bring them back to the top causes the entire order of the gallery to be reversed. Then using arrange files to reverse the order will not work. The only way to correct the order is to change the sort order to ascending, then use "arrange files" to reverse the order, and then to put the sort order back to descending.

This problem has been going on, and even though I have reported it in the bug reporting thread, I have received no solution.
Here is a gallery that is having the problem.

Interesting. I never would have thought to use the Ascending/Descending when there are no sort parameters set. I guess when you don't change the parameters (filename, caption, date uploaded, etc) but you change from Ascending to Descending, it tries to sort the positions of the photos. Seems to be the cause of the problems. The Ascending/Descending choice is for using the Auto Sort but it sure messes things up when you haven't picked a way to sort the photos. We should be able to fix this, but I can't say when.

All I'm doing is using the arrange check box to change the position of a file and my whole file order is changed.
I'd call that a pretty serious problem, and deserving of a high priority fix!
