Thanks Andy! Took me a while to find a link that worked with my super slow and unreliable 'net, but thanks to you stating the obvious, I did find what I'm looking for.

I'm in China for the next 8 months and I've got a decent income. . . and really low living expenses so I'm thinking about buying an SB-800. I'm not trying to skirt prices, and actually pay more for most electronics. I'm just stuck in China for a while. Anyway, I have lousy internet here and I'm trying to gain access to the SB-800 instruction manual so that I can look over it and figure out if I want it or not. Connections time out, internet fails, and generallly wreaks havoc with my desires. I'm wondering if someone has an electronic copy that they can email me.

FYI, I'm not a software thief and I do pay for what I use i.e. my copy of photoshop is 100% legal, licenesed, and paid for by me in full. If this request is not legal or is not allowed by Digital Grin, I apologize.

My other option is to go to a nikon service center and ask them, but this would be a lot easier for me!

Thanks for reading this at least.

    Google is your friend deal.gif

Took 2 seconds to find this. (Curiously, does China block access to it?). I just typed into google, sb800 user manual pdf.

Maybe I should start a new thread, but, I did manage to download the manual finally and I'm looking at it.

My primary interests in the SB-800 are the repeating flash function, and the wireless abilities. I own an SB-600 and frankly, I'm not impressed with all the i-TTL jazz. I may be using it wrong, but I usually end up setting manual everything on both camera and flash to get what I want. I'm also interested in the even more powerful distances.

However, it appears that you have to set up aperatures, distances, ISO values and a host of other stuff for half the modes? I obviously don't have the flash in my hands, but just how complicated is this flash? I don't have any trouble with the SB-600 and it manual mode. Is the SB-800 easy to set or do I have to consult distance and aperture charts all the time?

    (I have a D300, and a D70 that I'll be using this flash on.)
