I just happen to be in the right place at the right time. I had a tamron lens at 500mm and had to crop in to get what you see here. iso was 400 and settings were f8.0 at 1/500 ss. It was overcast day. Critiques are helpful. Thanks.

Is there some photoshopping here? It looks like a watercolour and not a photo. Can we see the original?

I did take it through psp to remove a fence and other white box thing that were in the way of the shot. I made a mistake about the mm...it was 300 not 500mm. I thought I had my lens maxed out but looking at the exif I didn't. I just was across a large field taking pics of something else when I saw them frolicking. I thought it was a cool shot. Just wanted to know others opinions.

As for the watermark...others may not agree but its going to have to stay. I have my reasons that I wont go into here. But I do appreciate your comments...thank you!

I stand behind watermarks. People will steal. That's reality.

I don't think it is totally lost, you should remove the fence and the waterholder [white box] but not so tight a crop and try to sharpen instead of soften. It really is a good capture. The horses are at play and you got them both in good focus and wonderful light and colour.
Maybe an off center crop with the horses in the lower right, but not totally on the side.
All the dirt kicking up under the brown one is nice. They look stunning.

Great shot, and great work in post. The original is pretty average, but the final is GREAT!

You really did good to turn an average snap shot type image into something interesting. The PP looks like you got too agressive with noise reduction or something. A little plastic looking. Other than that, you did a darn good job removing the fence and stuff. thumb.gif

thanks for the comments. I agree that I could have off centered them more...give them a little space to run. Not sure why it looks so plastic....I did run it though a sharpen filter....the horses coats are so glistening. From what I understand they had just had baths that morning and most likely why they were so frisky that day. I see these horses a couple times a week and this was a first for me to see them play around like this.

Again thank you all for your imput. I will redo the image when I'm not so tired.eek7.gif

Not my normal preference, but I don't mind the plasticky look for this shot. Especially considering the original. Nice one.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

After taking another look, I think it's just some real slick horses, Joyce. Everything else in the image looks just fine as do the manes, ears, etc on the horses. I've recently been playing around with NeatImage noise reduction software so am highly sensetive right now to overdoing NR. I was looking for problems that aren't there.

Really well done image from where it started to the final product thumb.gif
