I found some blue on the way home from work today. If you ever wanted to know what happens to used up reactor compartments from nuclear submarines, sit down, cause your gonna see.

Great shots Hutch. Sparked my interest and I found this site:
Got Blue! The Pacific Design Center was the perfect subject. It's a beautiful place. These were done with the Nikon 3100 without a tripod. [img]http://images.snapfish.com/
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL shots....[/img]

It is hard to describe how big one of those sections of submarines is until you see one coming down the road towards you.
One of the changes seen since 9-11; They now have a Coast Guard gunboat following the barge up the river. I suspect they probably have live ammo!
How about that for some big blue!

Very interesting... Until recently we lived just outside Gate 4 -Little Creek Amphibious Base, Virginia Beach, VA.... Little Creek is deemed one of the largest base of it's kind... And just a few short miles away is Naval Air Station, Oceana. Funny how after a time, you come to take all of the military vessels for granted... They are just "always" there, a part of day to day life, for us. And yet, seeing your photos put another twist on the magnitude of size. Would have been really cool to have had a human subject in the photo to gauge scale...
Nicely done.

Thank you Altpro. Digital Grin has challenged me to be a better photographer.
I really enjoy the site, and am in awe of some of the photographers that post here. My 3100 is limiting, and I feel the urge to run out and buy a pro digital camera, tripod and all the rest. I will subdue myself for now.

Ddog - Great link. Sometimes I think we really don't want to know what's out there!
Altpro - It would have been great to have a human for reference, but alas, I was by myself. The tires on the tractors are at least 6 ft tall if that gives you some idea!
I like a lot of the photos but how many meet the criteria: Blue means the primary focal point of your image should be the color blue
You are sooo correct!
I am re-submitting:
Something tells me that if this was the original submission, most would never have thought about used reactors. Maybe it doesn't really matter, but I think the story means something.
A lot of people are very artsey and creative. Me, not very creative or good, but I enjoy taking photos and enjoy sharing some of the story of where I live with other people.
My $0.02
Awesome pics here. My favorite color is green, but I may switch after this assigment. Here's one from my mini-canon. This is my first post around here, so I hope it works...

I love these architectural shots; I think they are my favorite of all shots posted so far (but I'm a junkie for a good building pic, don't ask me why...) My favorite is the one with the screen mesh in front.

I found some punk squirrels in my neighborhood tonight, so I snapped a pic of their tails...
