Red Crested (or Brazilian) Cardinal

From my recent trip to Kauai...

I was enamored with this bird's color and participation with being photographed. The reds look like they're burning through my sensor. For some reason the coloring on the first two shots didn't translate well to jpg'ing and posting to flickr.

It actually looks to me like the first two are of the femal, the last two are of the male because he is so much more brightly colored.

Although if you know this is only one bird that wouldn't work now woudl it?

Great shots, btw! You are right, the red of those last two is brilliant!
