Great images! I think the first one would be even more powerfull if you
    turned it 90° counterclockwise. thumb.gifthumbthumb.gif

In the first picture, far right the two little circles, is it some kind of vortex effect in the smoke of something reflecting in the lense??

    They are all great pictures

    Hi Skip

It's got me stumped as well??
I don't think its come from the 200-400 or light refraction?
Perhaps it's just smoke circles/trails from the Extra 300s?
I've seen much larger smoke trails that resemble hoops, so perhaps this maybe it in miniature?
Anyone shed some light on this?

    Cheers

If I had to quess, I'd say the circles in the first photo were an exhaust anomaly due to RPM changes and flight attitude. Could well be something else, however. Maybe you caught a couple of escapees from Area 51.

    Nice shots.

Just curious, were you hand holding that beast (200-400VR)? I have that same lens and although I love it, it is pretty dang heavy. The reason I ask is I've been considering shooting an airshow coming up next weekend and never been to one. I usually shoot auto races and always that lens on a monopod. I figure a monopod at an airshow would be somewhat useless once they are in the air.

    Thoughts? ..possible weight training?!

    Thanks!
