...will still look sweet!

Came across an old Tamron AF 70-300mm LD Macro 1:3.8 lens that I used to use with my Nikon FM film body and thought I'd give it a try on my D80. This is a very inexpensive mostly plastic bodied lens and I wasn't expecting such good results.
Given decent light I think it performs quite well considering these were taken handheld at 1/400 sec. by a major caffeine addict! :D I think this will become my flower lens of choice.

EXIF 300mm f/6.0 1/400 iso 1250
Handheld
No PP other than resizing for posting

C&C much appreciated.

Compositions are nice. They are a bit underexposed though. Other than that they are good shots!

Thanks Phil and Brian. It's interesting that they appear dark on your screens though as they are not so on my IMAC although the second one is somewhat darker than the others. I have my monitor set for sRGBIEC61911-2.1

Here it is lightened up a bit, is that any better.

    and here lighter even.

The original image width was 3872 pixels. I cropped to remove a small amount off the left side then resized to 1000 pixel width. I will definitely look into noise ninja. Thanks for the info Phil.

I ran the second shot through NeatImage to remove some of the noise,
    came up pretty good.

The images look a little on the dark side to me too.
Picked a lovely Rose to test out your lens on. thumb.gif .. Skippy :D

Here's a first attempt with noise ninja and it's default settings. Thanks for the info. This is a great help and a powerful tool. Looking forward to learning it's ropes.
