Another slow site :(

I am in the process of hiding and adding captions to photos in one of my galleries before opening it to the public.

On my computer using IE7; Smuggy loads really slow and then a few of the thumbs do not show at all.

I click for the next photo and it never shows, but I can add a caption. When I click "save" it takes 45+ seconds. Same with "hiding" a photo.

But when I move over to my wifes computer, a 7year old Dell that is slow, smug moves fast.

:scratch

Any ideas as to why smug is running slow on my computer?
All other sites I visit run quick, including anything that is interactive.
I've cleaned my cache file and it still runs slow.

    Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that SmugMug runs slow for you. Your site is fast for me and I don't see any problems with it.

Could you run a speedtest? Go here:
    http://smugmug.speedtest.net

We are the Yellow San Jose pyramid. Please let us know what the results are.

Furthermore, a traceroute might give us a better understanding on what route your connection takes to us and what might be the problem. The instructions are here:

Send the results to our helpdesk and we'll work with you on resolving the issues:

Everything looks fine with the tracer, I could not get the speedtest to load? Is that a java related problem. I got the header and a side bar but no tach meter.

I was browsing older support posts and found one that was a few pages long from this month: http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=95632&page=3 having some of the same problems.

I probably should have stated that my problems are:
Home page loads slow... some of the thumbs show and some turn to the dreaded red X

I had no problem uploading 2.8gig of pictures last week. It took a long time, but not sure how long because I left it on while I slept and didn't check it till the next day after work.

It's when I go in to edit the galleries that it slows or hangs.

If adding captions: I click on save and the computer just sits there and laughs at me. If I do it from another computer, it changes within a blink of an eye.

If loading my newly created Gallery or any Gallery with logged in, again the computer laughs and gives my photos a RED X or just a WHITE BOX.

computer is a HP a450n with 160gig hd, 2gig memory, nvdia 7200 agp
    ISP is MediaCom

All editing features work with no problems on a computer that is 5feet away and is about a PII basic basic Dell.

Only other things I can possibly check are: my line running to the modem.
Noting while playing AoEIII at my brothers house my computer timed out because their dog ate my connection. :cry

I figured when I posted this originally, "another slow site" I'd get a reply that the servers are being updated.

No appology needed from Smug, most likely it's not Smug related. I leaning towards IE7 or my nephews or my dog.

I would like to thank Steve for getting back with me on my email - kudos!

    At home for lunch.

    Loaded my site.

Went to an unlisted vietnam gallery to add a caption.

First page all thumbs loaded but the 1st one. However I was able to add a caption to it with no problem.

Went to page 2. Only 1 thumb loaded, no others did and the med. photo did not. Waited for a minute.

Went to page 3. Yeah... still waiting for it to goto page 3. Over 2 minutes.

Brought up a new tab and came here - instant.
