Hi Ben, Thanks for viewing. As he is learning and roaming I am getting some better shots without the leaves in front of the nest (finally). The nest is just about closed from view as the branches grow.

Hi Jeff, Thanks for your nice compliment. I have so many beautiful shots I don't know which ones to post. Having a captured audience is a plus but the light, shadows and glare have ruined almost more than the leaves have.

HI Jeff, Thanks for viewing. I have learned so much watching this family of hawks it is amazing. The interaction between mom, dad and baby is really something to see. I would say that being an only child this little guy is definitely spoiled..rolleyes1.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

There is a family of Redtails that live at my apartment complex! I haven't found the nest but every day for the past week I have seen mom and pa. Infact one of the parents sat on my balcany 2 feet in front of my face for about an hour watching me and posing. It was raining pretty hard so it was trying to stay dry. It was amazing. I'll post some pics later.

They are such beautiful creatures to watch.

Hi Stephen, Thanks for your nice comments, it has been fun and I've tried a lot of new camera techniques as well as learning a lot about the interaction between the parents and baby.

Hi Ric, I agree on the looks but he sure acts like the baby when mom or dad is around. When they leave he rules the nest..rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif Yesterday he attacked the nest as if he had a mouse on the ground. He grabbed a bunch of twigs with one claw and acted out trapping and killing his prey. It was interesting to watch. I took some shots but the nest is almost closed off with leaves by now.

Hi Jim, Thanks for your comments. It won't be long now (I hope.rolleyes1.gif ) I hope I can get a shot of him flying in the open but I only have a couple hours of good sun and he is active all day long.

Hi Mike, Thanks for your comments. Dad has been raiding the small bird nests around the area. This is a little chick of some kind. The funny thing about this was that junior was right on the edge of the nest because he was so hungry so dad couldn't get there. Dad set the chick down on the big branch he was standing on and it fell to the ground. Junior went crazy looking over the edge of the nest wondering where in the would his lunch went. Dad left and junior went crazy running around the nest looking over the edge (like a tantrum) wondering how dad could do that to him.

Finally about an hour later dad came back with a big juicy mole.. so junior was happy and finally got lunch.

    Chris....just super fantastic thumb.gif

I see a bird in the background in the last photo. It has a red head. Cool to have something like that in there. It shows the difference in the birds. Junior could just hop over and eat that bugger, but doesn't.

I pat you on the back for having the dedication to follow this thru till Junior flies. That goes beyond just taking a photo of a Hawk, but shows your love of the animal as well thumb.gif
