So, weddings is not what I want to do. I don't advertise them and now after doing a couple i know that weddings aren't a goal I want to reach in my photography career. I know I don't have the equipment or skill for weddings, but people keep asking me to do them anyway! They are looking for cheap, and I didn't charge a lot because I know I don't have what I need for weddings...

Anyway, the first set is the wedding I did in Kentucky (my home town) for my cousin...FREE of charge, so no matter what they got what they paid for right???? LOL

I am not happy with my pics, but did the best I could with the equipment I have (D80, 18-200mm 3.5 and 50 1.4)

This was the PAID wedding...again another smaller wedding under a HUGE budget....thankfully my cousin and the paying customer are happy with the photos even though I am not.

I did get some decent candids at this one though

I think you did a pretty decent job from what you've posted here for your first weddings... you definitely have a good eye and that helps a lot. On that note though, weddings are extremely stressful and tiring. Some of us thrive over that environment, others, find it to be a burn out. So it's good to learn now before you get yourself too entrenched in them and find it not to your liking later when people are more reliant on your doing weddings.

Anyhoo, nice job. What do you like to photograph primarily instead?

Kids, maternity, family shots, those are the ones i enjoy...I also like the non studio setting, just following them around and shooting and coming out with great shots....that is fun for me. I do pose them a little but for the most part they do their own thing :)

#2 & #3 of the 2nd series......alot of direct flash reflection in the door window....that can be fixed.....a bit of head room albiet it may go well with her flowers, it does distract from the pretty smile. Also, it's shot pretty much dead on and a little side positioning (the camera...Laughing.gif) would change that up....I realize the weddings over....just sharing.

#3 is a classic no no...not flattering for group shots. They look like a wall of bodies. Creating triangles, half circles, something symetrical that doesn't give that "dead ahead" look will change things drastically. Thought I'd share just on these two observations. Nothing easy about getting good wedding shots.....there's always so much going on....especially with the camera, light, people in the way, etc. I think you did pretty good for 2nd time out.

    Oh.....#5 in the first set.....the girls are......um really pink...hehee.....the walls give it away. I do love #4 though....that's a nice one!thumb.gif

    I think you did a great job...on both.....from what I can see............
If you do not want to do weddings then raise your prices.....I mean really raise to say NYC or LA prices......$5K or higher and do not stammer when asked......either you will never be asked to shoot one again or your work load with get a lot higher........
I was having a bit of trouble getting work (over 20yrs ago) and then I raised my prices a bit.....a little more work....so I tripled my prices and got more work than I thought i could in this town without a studio........by tripling I went to almost $1K.......it seemed that by having discount prices i was a bit high for the really poor and too low for the wealthy.......by shooting my prices up and not having a studio, it seemed to mean I was worth more to the money people.................funny how that works,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

technical question......what are you using for lighting? On camera flash with no flash bracket?

2,3,5,7 from the second set have a fairly harsh shadow that is to the right of your subjects. This is from turning your camera to take a vertical shot and placing your flash to the side of your camera instead of above it..

Besides that.....I think they look pretty good.

    I love your detail shots.
